Key Stage Two - Years 3, 4, 5 and 6

Age group 7 - 11 year olds

Start of the Day

All children enter the School grounds and follow the footsteps into the Upper School playground where they can play.  Children should not arrive earlier than 8.30am as there will be no adult supervision.  At 8.40am the whole School takes part in our daily exercise routine called Wake Up, Shake Up as part of our ’Healthy School Policy’ (please feel welcome to join in).  Our aim is for all children to become independent and confident in all they do.  To encourage this children are collected from the playground by their class teacher and are then led to their classrooms for registration.  Each class has a number to line up at as follows:

  • Line 5     – 3/4AN
  • Line 6     – 5/6JP
  • Line 11   – 3/4ZM
  • Line 12   – 3/4JT
  • Line 13   – 5TK
  • Line 14   – 6LG

Children arriving late must report to the School Office to make sure they are marked as present and their dinner arrangements registered.  It is an official requirement to mark children arriving after close of register as late.

End of the day

School ends at 3.15pm

All children will be escorted to the Upper School playground at the end of the day to their class number.  Please make sure that your child knows exactly where you will be waiting for them.  If your child is walking home independently, please make sure that their teacher is aware of this arrangement.

Snacks and Water

  • Morning playtime is at 10.30am -10.50am.  Children may bring their own healthy snack to eat. Fresh or dried fruit, no cereal bars please.
  • We also actively encourage children to drink plenty of water throughout the day.  It would be helpful if your child could bring in a water bottle so that they may have a drink in lesson times without a lengthy trip to the water fountain.

Lunchtime begins at 12.15pm.  All lunches are eaten in the canteen, or outside if the weather is suitable, and carefully supervised.  If your child has any special dietary requirement please make sure you have filled out a dietary form at the Office.

Can we remind parents/carers to be mindful of our healthy school status when making packed lunches for children to bring to school.

All KS2 children do P.E. Please can their kit be in school everyday and kept on their pegs.

Children will need plimsolls, shorts and T-shirt for indoor P.E. Jogging bottoms, sweatshirts and trainers for outdoor activities.
For safety reasons long hair must be tied back.
Jewellery is not allowed to be worn in school but if, for any reason it has to be, it must be removed for P.E.

  • Forest School:   A separate information letter was sent home last week.

  • Reading - All children are expected to read with an adult or independently at home at least 5 times a week.  Your child is always encouraged take home and share books with you.
  • Talk Homework - As part of the preparation for the weekly ‘Big Write’ session on alternate Fridays, children will be given a talk homework the Wednesday before.
  • Maths - Children will be given a piece of maths homework on a Friday to be completed and returned by the next Tuesday.
  • Grammar - Children in years 5 and 6 will also be given a piece of grammar homework to complete that will be handed out on a Friday and needs to be returned by the next Tuesday.
